CANOE PARADE VISITOR GUIDE
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29TH, 2:00PM, MOORHEAD MN
The parade can be viewed on the river trail anywhere between Viking Ship Park and and Riverfront Park in Moorhead. Once you get to a designated viewing area you can explore the trails on foot or bike to see the parade. The designated areas will have signage and parade brochures. Parking is available at both parks. The parade will start at 2pm at Viking Ship Park heading downstream.
Viking Ship Park at Hjemkomst - 202 1st Ave N, Moorhead
The parade will be passing at approximately 2:00pm during the launch and 2:40pm when they return for the award ceremony. This viewing location provides easy access to the award ceremony after the parade. Parking is available at this location.
Usher's - 700 1st Ave N, Moorhead
Riverfront Park - 210 8th St N, Moorhead
The parade will be passing the former Usher's House Restaurant and Riverfront Park at approximately 2:20pm. You can view the parade anywhere on the river trail between these locations. Parking is available at these locations along with the Extra Parking area down the road on the East side of Ushers. At the new Oak Grove / Riverfront Park Bridge, canoes will turn around to return to Viking Ship Park.
Join us for the award ceremony at Viking Ship Park after the parade at approximately 3:00pm. You'll be able to view the canoes up close, take photos, and talk to the creators.
During the ceremony, the best dressed vessel will be awarded the coveted Golden Paddle Award.
Pictured: 2018 Canoe Parade Golden Paddle Winners, “Hearts, Hearts, and Hearts”. The vessel was decorated with a sail of red balloons, red tissue paper honeycomb balls, and a pattern of small red hearts on the outside of the canoe. This is a floating tribute to the generous heart.
